Course Title Non-Licensed Asbestos Work
Description Persons requiring this training will include those whose work will knowingly disturb asbestos containing materials during the course of their work, such as building maintenance workers and supervisory staff. Successful completion of the training will enable the student to carry out non licensed asbestos work in accordance with HSG 210/213 – The Asbestos Essentials.
Pre-Qualification No Pre-qualifications required.
Duration

1 day including practical assessment and written exam
In house course can be held at clients premises subject to sufficient candidate numbers and  provision of suitable premises
Course Content
  • Introduction to asbestos
  • Asbestos types and uses
  • Health effects
  • Legislation and codes of practice
  • Control limits and the purpose of air monitoring
  • How to make a suitable assessment of the risk of exposure to asbestos
  • Safe working practices
  • Description, use and maintenance of Control measures
  • Prevention of spread of asbestos fibres from the workplace
  • Prevention and reduction of exposure to employees to asbestos fibres
  • Correct choice, use and where appropriate maintenance of PPE and RPE
  • Hygiene and decontamination procedures
  • Waste handling and disposal
  • Emergency procedures
Educational Objectives

Candidates will have a detailed knowledge of the approved methods of undertaking non licensed asbestos works, the correct use of PPE including RPE and the handling and disposal of asbestos waste.
Examination

Multiple choice written assessment paper
Certification

NATAS certificate of attendance of training* ( *if exam taken) In compliance with requirements Regulation 10 of Control of Asbestos regulations 2006., Training for non-licensed asbestos work

Costs

£195 plus VAT, inclusive of practical and exam
